Encuentros con Autoras is the commitment made by the Fundación Cine+Cómics and the Cátedra Cultural Moebius of La Universidad de La Laguna to disseminate the work carried out by women in the field of comics and illustration. Since it is a traditionally masculinized discipline, this project has been very well received since its inception in 2020, being included in the programming of events of great projection such as the Salón Internacional del Cómic y la Ilustración de Tenerife or the Congreso Internacional Fundación Cine+Cómics.

What was initially proposed as a formula to generate cultural content online during the pandemic, has ended up becoming a benchmark within the comic sector, conducting interviews with local, national and international artists. Since 2020, the project has had the participation of 37 authors from all over the world and, in its current edition, it incorporates another ten who will talk about their career and experiences live on the official Facebook page of Santa Cruz Cómic.

As in previous editions, Encuentros con Autoras 2023 is completed with five traveling face-to-face exhibitions: Mararía, by Rafael Arozarena, in Lanzarote; The art of Sickyll, Mujeres melee and Illustrators & Illustrated 3 in Tenerife; and Marvel Women on the island of La Graciosa. Of all these samples, it is Ilustradoras & Ilustradas 3, curated by Camila Pomares, which has its own catalog where more than a hundred artists from all over the Canary Islands participate.

In addition to continuing to count on the collaboration of Santa Cruz Cómic, the Cabildo de Tenerife through its Tenerife Violeta program and the Librería del Maldito, Encuentros con Autoras 2023 is sponsored by Promotur, a public company of the Government of the Canary Islands.
